South Africa-Blue-shadowed stacks of Table Mountain sandstone and decomposed granite rise from vivid green pastures dotted with brilliant white facades of 300-year-old Cape Dutch homesteads. Thought to be one of the top 10 most beautiful places in the world, it produces wine with a real sense of place; robust, toasty reds and aromatic, lush whites.

*Kumusha Sauvignon Blanc, Breedekloof. Made by world renowned sommelier Tinashe Nyamudoka-see the documentary “Blind Ambition” Team Zim. This wine is lively and aromatic. The philosophy is to have minimal intervention, natural fermentation and let the wine speak of its origin. Pairs well with Chicken & Strawberry salad.

Nieuwe *Haarlem Chenin Blanc Paarl. In 16947 the ship Nieuwe Haarlem was wrecked off the coast of South Africa, stranding the crew, they planted vegetables and wine grapes from the salvaged cargo. This wine has teasing nuances of apricot and honeydew with bracing minerality to balance them. In the mouth it is rich and textured with spicy complexity. Try it with a shrimp cocktail.

*Kumusha Flame Lily White, Slanghoek. Rousanne/Chenin/Viognier/Semillon/Colombard. Aged in neutral oak for 10 months this wine abounds with flavors of lemon curd and cantaloupe in an unctuous mouthfeel. Aromas of Honeysuckle and orange zest are prevalent. The finish is crisp and mineral driven to balance the fruit. Incredible with a cheese plate.
